City of Montrose Holiday Closings: Thanksgiving - November 28-29, 2013; Christmas - December 24-25, 2013; New Year - January 1, 2014.

Pet Tags will go on sale beginning October 1, 2013. Tags will be $5.00 through December 31, 2013 for each pet; dogs and cats. Pet Owners must present a current rabies vaccination when purchasing a tag. New residents will pay only a $5.00 fee if purchased within 30 days of residency. Pets under 3 months of age are not required to have tags. Owners will be charged $5.00 per tag once the new pets have their rabies shots.
Beggar's Night is scheduled for Thursday October 31, 2013 from 5:00 to8:00 p.m. Have a safe and Happy Halloween.

The Watermelon Festival is August 15, 16 and 17. Events start at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday; Saturday at 7:00 a.m through 11:00 p.m.

July 12, 2013 - Reminder: Please DO NOT throw household garbage and dead animals in the recycle bins. These are for recyclables only. Continued use of the recycle bins in this manner will result in the loss of recycling priveleges for everyone. Please call or stop by City Hall for a list of recyclables.
THE NEXT MEETING OF THE MONTROSE CITY COUNCIL IS MONDAY JULY 8, 2013 AT 7:00 P.M.
Water and sewer rates are increasing. Water rates will remain at $29.45 for the first 1,000 gallons used; and will increase to $3.95 for each successive 1,000 gallons used. Sewer will be a flat fee of $31.65. Business users will pay $31.65 for the first 1,000 gallons and $5.00 for each successive 1,000 gallons used. Just a reminder that the City bills one month behind. You will see the increase in the utility bill you receive the beginning of July.
The water/sewer deposit amount will also increase. The amount for two months water and sewer deposit will be $134.78.
Golf Cart Permits are now on sale at Montrose City Hall. You must present a current driver's license (unless already on file) and proof of insurance. The cost is $10.00.
Watermelon Festival is August 15, 16, 17, 2013.
Farmer's Market is every Tuesday at Montrose Riverfront Inc. from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The City of Montrose is asking volunteers to help clean up the five entrances to the city on Saturday April 20, 2013. Volunteers will meet at Kinnick on the River at 9:00 a.m. Cleanup supplies will be provided. After cleanup, volunteers are invited to return to Kinnick on the River for hot dogs and pop.
Spring Cleanup is scheduled for Wednesday April 17, 2013. Please have all items out by 7:00 a.m. on the 17th. For more information, please contact City Hall. There is also a notice in the City Hall front window. They will not take appliances or computers/peripherals or nicad batteries.
