Office of the City Clerk/Treasurer (TOP)

State Code provides that every city in Iowa must have a City Clerk. The Clerk is responsible for all City Council proceedings, bonds, contracts, and historical, legal, and administrative documents; and, building and cigarette permits. The Clerk is also responsible for pet and beer/liquor licenses. In Montrose, the Clerk is also the Treasurer. The treasurer is responsible for all financial record keeping, budgets, reports, payroll, and the Annual Report.
